Sick day was a campaign for The Children’s Hospital Foundations Australia — a national body that supports medical research and children’s hospital services across Australia. It was created to help CHFA find nation-wide financial support from working Australians, asking them to donate the value of their paid sick days to assist children in hospital.

A partnership was created with the National Rugby League to promote the cause through the season at games and as part of their televised commentary programmes. The Parramatta Eels donated their sick days by volunteering at participating children’s hospitals.

N.B. ‘Chuck a sickie’ is an Australian colloquialism meaning to take a day off work by pretending to be unwell.
